Strawberries and chocolate—a match made for Valentine’s Day and good heart health. Strawberries and chocolate are known to have flavonoids, a type of antioxidant that’s linked to better heart health. Make these chocolate-covered strawberries for your loved ones to show how much you heart them. Just be sure to enjoy in moderation.
- 16 oz. strawberries, washed and dried (about 15 strawberries)
- 3 oz. white baking chocolate chips
- 8 oz. semi-sweet baking chocolate chips
Fill a medium saucepan with couple inches of water. Place heat-proof glass bowl on saucepan, making sure it doesn’t touch the water, and heat to a slow simmer. Place white chocolate in bowl, stirring occasionally until melted and smooth. Set aside.
Repeat with semi-sweet chocolate using another bowl.
(Alternatively, melt the chocolates separately in a microwave oven at half power for 30 seconds, stir, and then heat for 30-second increments or until melted.)
Make sure that strawberries are completely dry. Dip them in melted semi-sweet chocolate and place on parchment paper.
Fill a small plastic bag with the melted white chocolate. Cut one corner off the bag and drizzle the white chocolate on the dipped strawberries.
Set aside until chocolate sets, about 30 minutes.
