The Hawaii Community Caregiver Network Conference Event will feature TV journalist Emme Tomimbang.
Throughout her career as a TV broadcaster, Emme Tomimbang mastered the skill of multi-tasking. Her work days were filled covering several news stories a day - then returning to the TV station to write, produce and supervise the editing of those stories.
Years later, Emme formed her own company, EMME Inc., to independently produce Emme's Island Moments. The multi-tasking continued when she assumed what would become the biggest job of her life - that of unpaid family caregive for her late husband, Judge Jim Burns. The stress of managing both jobs took its toll on her own health as Emme the caregiver became Emme the care receiver.
On Friday, April 20, keynote speaker Tomimbang shares her personal story at the Hawaii Community Caregiver Network (HCCN) 2018 Conference for Caregivers. The event will be held from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Sheraton Keauhou Resort & Spa, 780128 Ehukai St., kailua-Kona, HI 96740. Cost is $25 and includes validated parking, breakfast pastries and a buffet lunch.
Additional presentations include a panel on caregiving with Emme, Karene Klemme, RN, Brain Injury Support Coordinator, and Karyn Clay, Founder, Hoonani Adult Care Services; Understanding Dementia with Darin Yoshimoto, Positive Approach to Care Certified Trainer; as well as representatives from AARP Hawaii, Hawaii County Office of Aging and HCCN.
