If you have school-age keiki, Valentine’s Day can mean an influx of sugary snacks and processed treats. This year, swap chocolates and candy for a cute craft your child can make and give to their friends and classmates. If you’re short on time, we have a full-color, ready-to- print, cut, and fold option. We also have a blank version that gives keiki the opportunity to be creative. And you don’t need an entire ream of paper for this craft; you just need one sheet for each coloring book!
Supplies
- Coloring book template
- Scissors
- Crayons or markers (optional)
Instructions
Print out template. Page 1 is the instructions, page 2 is the coloring book, and page 3 is a completely DIY version.

Cut the coloring book out, following the solid outline.

Fold along the dotted lines, first vertically (hot dog fold).

Then, fold in half.

And then fold one more time.

Unfold completely and fold once horizontally (hamburger fold). Cut the solid line in the middle and unfold.

Unfold and refold vertically. The middle should look like a diamond.

Push both ends of the paper together to turn the diamond into a cross shape.

Fold in half twice and flip pages until the font cover is in front. That’s it! Now that you know how to make a mini-coloring book out of a sheet of paper, you can make any kind of book you’d like!
We had a quality control inspector test out the coloring book:

She said she enjoyed coloring the cute food and had fun assembling the coloring books to give away.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
