HMSA is proud to support Mental Health Month in Hawaii. Mahalo to the Hawaii Department of Health for inviting Team HMSA and our partners at Carelon Behavioral Health to Mental Health Day at the Hawaii State Capitol.
May is Mental Health Month, a reminder to care for our mental well-being. The daylong event highlighted HMSA’s commitment to share information on this important subject.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, more than one in five adults live with a form of mental illness. Close to 20% of children and teens have a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral disorder, but only 20% of those kids who need services actually receive help. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or looking for mental health resources, please contact Hawaii Cares by calling or texting 988.
