Do you still need to find little gifts for your kids’ classmates or for your workplace? Well, I’ve found the perfect DIY craft to share with you – personalized marble magnets! It’s quick, simple, and inexpensive so you can turn out a whole bunch of them in no time at all.  It’s so easy that my son, Jaxon, offered to do the demo once again!

What you’ll need:

  • Mod Podge (clear, glossy) or any glue that will dry clear
  • Large, flat clear glass marbles – approximately 1 ¼” (the type used in vases)
  • Flat magnets – approximately ¾”
  • Printed images/decorative paper of your choice
  • Scissors

Step 1: Cut
Place a marble over your image, trace around it, and cut it out. The cutout should be approximately one inch in diameter.  Check to ensure that it fits within the base of the marble with no overhang. If it does, trim it back a bit until it fits nicely (see photo.) This little step makes for a very finished looking product when completed.

Note: I found that circular images (such as the cookie image in our demo) work really well for these magnets. Also, if you own a 1” circle craft paper punch, completing this step becomes super quick and easy.

Step 2: Glue
Place your circular cutout face-up on a sheet of scrap paper.  Using your finger spread the Mod Podge glue over the surface. Repeat to the flat, underside of the marble.

Note: Feel free to use a brush or cotton swab, but personally I find that your finger is the best tool for this job.

Step 3: Assemble
Place your image onto the marble (glued sides towards each other.) Move it around a bit to ensure there aren’t any air bubbles. Center the image and completely cover with more glue, be generous. Be sure to catch the edges. Finally, place a magnet in the center. Leave your magnet face down and let dry. Depending upon the amount of glue used, it may take up to a couple of hours to dry completely. I prefer it to cure overnight, just to be sure.

Step 4: Done!
And that’s it; an awesome customized gift for a special person!
Once again great job, Jaxon!
