Care to Live a Green Lifestyle?

Resources for those who want to make a difference improving the environment.

By Joshua Duvauchelle

Care2 was launched with the idea that every individual can make a difference. Eight million people have since used the site to learn practical ways to live healthy and protect the environment. In 2005, it was nominated for a Webby (the Internet’s equivalent of the Grammys or Oscars). It now bills itself as the Web’s largest community for “people passionate about making a difference.”

At its core, Care2 is a vast depository of articles focused on healthy, environmentally friendly living. It offers hundreds of articles on subjects such as diet, beauty, family, fitness and household care. Topics are as extensive as they are varied. Want to make homemade aromatic body powder? Looking for vegan cake recipes? Searching for natural sunburn soothers? Even Fido is included, with whole sections devoted to pets. It’s all here, and more.

Care2 also provides networking opportunities. You can create a personal webpage with a blog, photo hosting, and your own Care2 email address. Using your Care2 account, you can interact with like-minded readers, discuss articles, comment on news stories, and sign up for email newsletters about living a green lifestyle.

One of Care2’s most popular features is its click-to-donate page – as you browse the website, they donate funds to dozens of nonprofits. It’s all part of their goal to get you to care, too.

We’d love to hear from you.
